Well this is long overdue and there is no easy way to do this. I’ve got good news and bad news. First the bad news. I obviously am having difficulty finding the time to serve as the VWUG Leader for the Phoenix area. So I am stepping down.
The good news is that Wayne Hensley of AV concepts will be taking my place, and I will still work behind the scenes to help Wayne with the blog. I still love Vectorworks and still think it is the best program in the world, despite Nemetschek’s attempts to destroy it.
More good news, Nemetschek is changing their name. More bad news, Nemetschek is moving to an annual subscription service for upgrading Vectorworks.
The meeting kicked off with introductions and backgrounds on the attendees. Some of the things discussed at the last meeting were frequency of meeting. I think it was unanimous that the group meet once a month. The format for the meetings was also discussed. Some of the possibilities are guest speakers, user demonstrations, plug-in demonstrations or presentations, training videos, and “how to” problem solving sessions. The importance of maintaining a wish list and possible bug list was also discussed. Nemetschek needs our feedback and they listen to groups more than individual users. The Animationworks plug-in was reviewed as well as some plug-ins for big screens and cameras. Lighting was discussed and part of a training video was viewed. Training discs were “checked out” similar to library books with the understanding that the discs will be brought to every meeting, and swapped so others can view the videos. The meeting concluded after a couple hours and was overall a huge success.
It is with a heavy heart that I will not be continuing in the role of user group leader. But I know that Wayne will do an excellent job and I will help out in any way I can. I wish you all great success and hope you hang in there while Wayne and I make this transition.
Thank you and I hope to see you all again soon.
